Dear Subscriber First Name, As I wrote in my October’s newsletter, I am traveling in Japan completing the 88 temples pilgrimage on Shikoku as well as visiting other sites. While I am journeying, I am inspired to follow Paul Salopek’s structure in his reporting of his Out of Eden Walk, a National Geographic project in slow journalism. Every 100 miles, he records a 365 degree video of his location, what’s above and below, and whom he meets with next: one of the goals of his project is to connect people around the world as explained by the subtitle of his project “Slow Down, Find Humanity”. My blog posts are similar in structure: a short unedited video shot on my phone, a photo of the sky above and the earth below, but instead of sharing a connection with a human, I am sharing a Kizuki. The word Kizuki in Japanese can mean the act of "noticing," "realizing," or "becoming aware of" something. So for me, it’s a moment of mindfulness, a new insight, or a surprising sight. I also add a poem or some text to provide you with additional context when needed. Below are included the most recent posts. I will continue posting as I go.
