Blessings- The Inestimable Power of Intention

One entry point into my personal journey as a life coach has been the re-discovery of poetry. As a child raised in France, poetry was part of my educational landscape, but it quickly disappeared from my daily life as I grew into an engineer in Silicon Valley and a mother of three busy boys. Many authors, old and new, have touched me along my poetry re-discovery path, but one in particular has marked me: it’s the Irish poet, author, philosopher and priest, John O’Donohue. His collection of blessings published posthumously To Bless the Space Between Us- A book of Blessings (Double Day, 2008) is one that I cherish and return to often. This year in particular I have turned to his blessings numerous times.

He writes:

What is a Blessing? A blessing is a circle of light drawn around a person to protect, heal, and strengthen. Life is a constant flow of emergence. The beauty of blessing is its belief that it can affect what unfolds.

As a recapitulation of the past year and to welcome us into the new one with as much intentionality as possible, I have chosen to share with you a few of his beautiful blessings.

May these blessings draw a protective circle of a light around you and your loved ones.
