Dear Subscriber First Name, As I am traveling in Japan, I have been inspired (again) by Paul Salopek in his reporting of his Out of Eden Walk, a National Geographic project in slow journalism. (You may remember that I wrote about Paul Salopek last year in a newsletter titled Eternity in Every Step). Every 100 miles, he records a 365 degree video of his location, what’s above and below, and whom he meets with next: one of the goals of his project is to connect people around the world as explained by the subtitle of his project “Slow Down, Find Humanity”. My blog posts are similar in structure: a short video, a photo of the sky above and the earth below, but instead of sharing a connection with a human, I am sharing a Kizuki. The word Kizuki in Japanese can mean the act of "noticing," "realizing," or "becoming aware of" something. So for me, it’s a moment of mindfulness, a new insight, or a surprising sight. I also add a poem or some text to provide you with additional context if needed. Below are included the posts that are available so far. I will continue posting as I go. Please feel free to comment on each blog post. And no need to wait for my November newsletter to read more. Simply revisit my website on a regular basis.
